Hitler Youth Movement Overview
Even before Hitler came into power in 1933, he understood the great impact of censored education. Among the twenty-five points in the NSDAP's Program in 1920 was the point concerning education and how it should be used to increase the State morale. Through the new education system Hitler wanted to promote the struggle against the Jews for supremacy at the same time as preparing the young for their future roles in the Volksgemeinschaft. By censoring the information taught at school and activities in the youth groups, the young children were unable to escape the ideals of Nazism. In effect, the youth developed a deep devotion to the Nazi Regime as well as Hitler himself. Although the Third Reich did not last 1000 years as Hitler had hoped, the educated youth were part of also why the Regime lasted as long as it did. Perhaps it wasn't Hitler's primary focus or intention, but by educating the youth and creating youth organizations he was securing followers, making him more politically and socially powerful.
